There are many types of Aerial apparatus, I have described the ones we offer (whether it be in class or workshops) below.

Warning: But be careful, aerials can be addictive!  Side effects include getting fit while having too much fun.

Various Types of Aerial Apparatus

Pole Fitness

Pole Fitness, also known as Pole Dancing, Pole Sport or Pole Art.  Much like ballet, you start with the basics as a beginner, learn proper technique and form and work your way up to higher levels.  Pole dancing has quickly become a very popular form of exercise and even a competitive sport around the world. Not only is it a great way to embrace your inner goddess, but it also has numerous health benefits that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Silks, also known as aerial tissue, is done on two pieces of hanging fabric.  Beginners will start learning the basic foot wraps, and work their way up to being suspended by locking your feet into the cloth safely and securely.  Aerial silks work pretty much every muscle in your body: from arms to legs, stomach to back.

Lyra, also known as Aerial Hoop, is a suspended steel hoop, usually between 32-38” in diameter. Some hoops are taped with a hockey type tape to add grip, while others are not.  Lyra requires a lot of upper body strength but beginners are welcome, as you will learn the basics and progress from there, building your strength up over time and developing your flexibility.

Hammock, also known as Aerial Swing, is where the fabric is set up opposite of Silks and the tails are tied at the top and the fabric loops down.

A combination of Pole and Silks or Hammock, where the fabric is attached to the top of the pole. This is a great, slightly gentler, workout than pole and silks on their own, and a great way to get the best of both worlds.

A round metal hoop, similar to a Lyra, attached to the top of a pole. It is pole meets static lyra.  It is another exciting combo of 2 apparatuses to challenge your body and mind.

Static Trapeze

Static Trapeze is performed on the static (non-swinging) trapeze. The artist executes breathtaking acrobatics and gorgeous poses while suspended in the air.
